What motivated you to join the Fitness for Life development team?

I was motivated to join the Fitness for Life team because I am passionate about making physical activity achievable, meaningful and fun. Knowing where to get started can be overwhelming, I love that this resource details all that’s needed to get started on finding the exercise that’s right for any young adult with cerebral palsy.

I’m also thrilled that this resource can be available for physiotherapists to learn more about what young people need from their allied health team. It’s important for us to be providing tailored programs and helpful recommendations to all our clients, what better way to tailor our supports that hearing directly from the source!!

What do you hope the impact of this resource will be for young adults with cerebral palsy?

I hope this resource encourages young adults with cerebral palsy to advocate for themselves and their needs when exercising and when working with their physios.

I hope that painful stretches and boring exercises will be a thing of the past– I hope that exercise can be enjoyable for all young people with cerebral palsy.

I hope that young adults and physiotherapists will have greater understanding of beneficial and meaningful exercise, specific to young adults with cerebral palsy.

What is your favourite physical activity to participate in at the moment, and why?

I love dancing with two of my friends. We go once a week to a local dance class run at the nearby scout hall. My favourite song to dance to is Waterloo by Abba. It’s my favourite physical activity because it’s fun and I look forward to seeing my friends each week.
